I'm living in an apartment in a tiny street off of the Piazza del Campo with two Americans and a South African. The apartment is beautiful, very colorful and surprisingly large! The most exciting part of the entire apartment is teal shutters we get to throw open each morning like real Italians. The second most exciting part is the view you see afterward. Out one side of the apartment we have a view of the city with the gold and pink buildings of Siena. The other side opens to a tiny street and a wall of teal shutters like ours and Italian clothes lines. It is so, so beautiful everywhere you look here. I love it so much and still am in shock that I actually am living here!
Tomorrow is my friend and roommate Leza's birthday so a few of us are headed to a town on the western side of Italy, Piombino, to swim in the sea. It's a weekend that deserves to be celebrated also because my mom's surgery went extremely well. It was such good news and I hope her recovery keeps going along well as planned!
Be expecting photos from my first trip to the sea very, very soon!

Also, Italian is going very well and I am surprised by how much I understand. I'm so excited to continue improving while here!
